Moderator Assistant

An assistant helps the moderator follow a busy session, especially participant questions and messages, while working in a familiar live-session layout.

Authorization and connection

The moderator creates assistant credentials and chooses which saved assistants are enabled for a session. Sign in with the assistant identifier, password, and moderator account supplied to you. You can connect once the moderator is connected and wait before the first question is sent.

What the assistant can see

The Live Session view follows the moderator’s questions and participant responses. The Messages view shows participant conversations, public messages, and connected participants. Late-arriving assistants receive the existing session context so they can understand what happened before they connected.

The assistant does not manage the moderator’s LLM, saved files, presets, or History. It also does not start or finish the moderator’s session. This keeps the role focused on live support.

Replying accurately

Select a participant in the connected-participant list or message history. The selected recipient is repeated in the selector above the composition area so you can visually confirm the destination. Send Privately replies only to that participant; Send to All creates a public message for the group. Replies are mirrored into the moderator’s history so the moderator and assistant share the same conversation context.

Always confirm the selected participant before sending privately. If a message concerns grading, policy, accommodations, or another decision reserved for the moderator, acknowledge it and bring it to the moderator rather than improvising an answer.

Example: supporting a large class

Seventy participants are responding to a conceptual question. Several ask for clarification while the moderator watches the response patterns. The assistant answers procedural questions privately, sends one clarification publicly when it applies to everyone, and flags a substantive question for the moderator. Because both see the same message history, they avoid contradictory or duplicate replies.

Good assistant practice

Watch for the latest-message highlight and raised-hand indicator.
Use private replies for individual questions and public messages only when the information benefits everyone.
Do not copy participant responses or identities into outside services.
Keep replies concise so participants can return to the live question.
Tell the moderator about recurring confusion; repeated questions may reveal a useful follow-up.
